Hana Maui is one of the best places for camping, but which spots are the best? The truth is there are dozens of great places to camp. With that said, below are a few of the top Hana Maui camping spots, as well as reasons why they are ranked among the top camping spots. 

Koki Beach Park 

This area is known for its black, white and red sands, which is a mixture that is rarely found anywhere else. Koki Beach park is in the Southern area of Hana. The main reason to camp at Koki Beach Park is it is one of the most gorgeous beaches in all of Hawaii. Let’s not forget to mention it’s among the cleanest beaches in the world. 

Other than that, you should camp there because the water tends to be perfect swimming conditions all-year-round. Furthermore, you will love the surrounding scenery and the many activities you can do. Just make sure you’re aware of the currents because at certain times of the year they can become dangerous. 

Kipahulu Campground

Another good place to camp in Hana is Kipahulu Campground, which is a very basic campsite. However, it is one of those places you should go to at least once while you’re in Hawaii. The campsite features plenty of grassy areas, so you have plenty of areas to sit down and take in the scenery or to just relax. There’s also a handful of picnic tables, as well as grills. 

Let’s not forget to mention that there are pit toilets, and the ocean is right there. If you’re not a fan of the ocean, make sure you still go because there are trails nearby. Hikers and cyclists alike will appreciate the trails in the area. Long walks on the beach is another activity that people love to do at the campground. 

Here’s a tip, bring a fishing pole. There are a few fishing spots that are perfect for spending the day at. Plus, it gives you the chance to really take in the area. 

Waianapanapa State Park

Perhaps the best place of all is this state park, which has everything you can imagine. It sits on just over 120 acres of land, so as you can imagine there is a ton of stuff to do here. From camping to hiking to fishing to boating and swimming; There are dozens of activities for you to enjoy. 

Also, the sunrises here seem to be the best in the world. Make sure you wake early to catch at least one sunrise. As for weather, it’s typical Hawaiian weather. Most of the year you can expect it to be warm here, so anytime of the year is a good time to camp at the state park.

Koki Beach Park and Kipahulu Campground are excellent camping spots in Maui. The same goes for Waianapanapa State Park. Each place is special and unique, but they are all worth going to for a few days or even a few weeks.
